On the 1st of August the hockey Ravens travelled to Arundel School, Harare, for a Silver Girls Hockey Tournament. They were slotted into pool A with five other schools: Heritage, Hatfield, Watershed, Westridge and Mabelreign Girls High.
Day1
The team played with Watershed, unfortunately they lost 1-0 but that did not discourage the girls. It seems they got motivated to work even harder.
Day2
On Saturday they played three matches. The first match was against Mabelreign and they thrashed them 3-0. The goals being scored by Michelle Chigama (1) and Michayla Hall who scored two of the three goals.
The Ravens then played Hatfield and managed to win the match by a score of 3-2. The scorer are Shungu Makoni, Thandiwe Sibanda and Kumbirai Kasonde.
Their third match, of the day, was against Westridge. The Ravens won the match two goals to zero with Shungu Makoni scoring the first goal and Kumbirai Kasonde taking a wonderful penalty flick for the second goal.
Day 3
The Ravens played Heritage and drew one all. This match levelled the points but Heritage qualified to the semi-finals due to their superior goal aggregate.
Thereafter the girls went onto ‘play offs’ for fifth and sixth position. They played against South Eastern College and scored two goals courtesy of Natasha Mukucha, and Shungu Makoni. This saw the Ravens attain fifth position out of twelve schools.
The technical department was marshalled by the three, Mrs Masaire, Mrs Ntini and Mr Ndlovu
