As most of you are aware, we have been a Cambridge International Examinations Centre attached to the British Council. We applied to be Cambridge International School at the beginning of this year. An approval visit by the Cambridge International Examinations manager for Southern Africa took place on 29 October 2015. We received the great news that our application was successful on Friday, 13 November 2015 and this resulted in the school’s elevation to a Cambridge School. This development will tremendously reduce examination fees in 2016. For example, a subject fee of $104 paid in 2015 will be about $60 in 2016.
As a result of our new status, we are going to make the following changes:
- All our Form Two students will sit for Cambridge Check point examinations at the end of 2016 in subjects: Mathematics, English Language and Science. They will also be expected to sit for ICT starters.
- We are going to introduce Thinking Skills as a subject for A’ Level.
We are also hoping that our ‘A’ Level students will sit for General Paper.
In the same vein, we are also looking at the possibility of becoming a centre for the professional development of teachers.
